I have often observed internal audit functions that undertake great work, but keep it under their hat. In this mindmap I think about why internal auditors need to raise their profile, and ideas on how this can be achieved.

I recently was posed the following question on Twitter:

Any thoughts on considering recorded interviews as working papers? Interviews are not transcribed meaning controls are not clearly documented in writing. Chief Audit Executive considers it sufficient that re-performance is possible by listening to (hours of) recordings #internalaudit

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) published the latest version of the UK Corporate Governance Code in July 2018; it takes effect for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2019. Our latest MindMap takes a look at some of the changes in the new Code.

The principle, although originally intended as a framework for listed companies, has been adopted across most sectors. A brief look at why I find MindMaps useful, and how I use them

I have been a fan of MindMapping for some time. I have found that use of mindmapping comes naturally to me, and has been a very useful tool both when planning audits, undertaking projects, and in developing plans. I also think visually, and I think that being able to set my thoughts out more graphically and showing relationships helps me gather my thoughts.

There's no voiceover for this mindmapping video - I've saved those for the Introduction to the series, and for each of the specific topics that I explore in the regular mindmaps.
